Cleric Puts Out Bounty on Cartoonists

The Religion of peace is at it again. Mohammed Yousaf Qureshi, a Pakistani cleric, has put a million dollar bounty on the head of the Danish cartoonists, for their brilliant, satirical Mohammed cartoons. It’s unclear to me why this is allowed in Pakistan. Is it not illegal to make death threats or put out contracts on people in Pakistan? Can’t the Danish government take some action against Qureshi?

Oh, and where are the United Nations Special Rapporteurs on freedom of expression and religious tolerance now?

i agree 100%, can we not file a lawsuit against Mohammed Yousaf Qureshi? in any civilized nation asking for someone's head is illegal. or can the un be petioned?

Indeed, anonymous. The truth of it is, I suspect, that most of the countries where these protests are occuring ENCOURAGE this type of behavior. It keeps the minds of the protesters off of more important things: like living in a theocratic state with minimal civil rights and under an oppresive clerical regime, that masquerads, at times, as secular.

If you are interested, feel free to check out an earlier post on the complicity of governments in protests.
Cheers,
